Lisa O’Neill, APRN, AGNP-C
Board-Certified Nurse Practitioner | Champion for Busy Moms | Advocate of Simple, Stress-Free Healthcare

Lisa is a dedicated Nurse Practitioner who knows firsthand the demands of balancing a busy life and a family. As a mother herself, she has spent years perfecting the art of simplifying care for other moms who feel like there just aren’t enough hours in the day. Her practice is built on a deep understanding of what moms need: accessible, compassionate, and efficient care that prioritizes your time and well-being. When you visit the Mom NP, you can expect an open, no-judgment zone where we work together to create realistic health solutions that fit your lifestyle. Lisa loves empowering women to take charge of their health while juggling their many roles, and her goal is to help you feel seen, heard, and cared for.

With 13 years of experience in healthcare, Lisa has had the privilege of working with women from all walks of life, helping them tackle everything from routine checkups to chronic conditions, and everything in between. Whether it’s lending a listening ear, finding the root cause of an issue, or creating a care plan tailored just for you, her approach is always focused on you. As a provider, Lisa believes in creating strong partnerships with her patients. Her approach is rooted in active listening, thorough assessments, and collaborative care plans tailored to meet individual needs. In addition to her clinical experience, she is dedicated to staying at the forefront of medical advancements and continually refining her skills to offer her patients the best possible care. She holds a master’s degree in nursing from the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) and has a background in a variety of specialties including urology, psychiatry, endocrinology and gastroenterology, which has equipped her with the expertise to support women’s health at every aspect and stage of life. She has completed extensive training on bioidentical hormone replacement from the BHRT Training Academy and maintains as an active member of The Menopause Society. Lisa is actively pursuing her doctoral degree at Vanderbilt University.

The Mom NP has reimagined how healthcare should work for families. Lisa operates through the Direct Primary Care (DPC) model—a refreshingly simple approach to healthcare that doesn’t accept insurance. Why? Because Lisa believes in putting her patients first, not the paperwork. This model allows your provider to focus on providing personalized care without rushing through appointments or battling with insurance companies.

With a DPC membership, patients get unlimited access to Lisa through virtual consultations, and direct communication via phone, text, or email. For busy moms juggling carpools, school drop-offs, and work deadlines, this flexibility is a game-changer. Whether it’s managing chronic conditions, addressing acute concerns, or planning preventive care, the Mom NP makes it easy to prioritize your health—without jumping through hoops.

When she’s not helping patients, Lisa enjoys spending time with her family, experimenting with quick-and-healthy recipes, and advocating for smarter, more compassionate healthcare options in her community.

With the Mom NP, healthcare doesn’t have to be one more thing on your to-do list—it’s one less thing to worry about.

The Reason

Many studies have shown the following healthcare statistics about Moms:

  •  36% of women in a recent survey reported delaying or missing a mean of 3.7 healthcare appointments/year. Among women with delayed or missed care, 54.5% reported childcare barriers as the primary reason for deferral of care

  •  40.6% of female patients reported leaving an appointment before completion due to childcare needs. Childcare needs are a leading barrier to healthcare among women accessing care in safety-net settings.

  • 1 in every 3 moms experiences depressive symptoms in the first 4 years after birth

  • More than 90% of women surveyed in one study had never been taught about menopause, and more than 60% did not feel informed at all about menopause.

  • 47% of Perimenopausal women experience insomnia and do not receive treatment.

  • 75% of menopausal women who seek medical care for their symptoms are left untreated.

  • There is a statistically significant correlation between women's hormone replacement therapy and the evaluation of life satisfaction and the severity of perimenopausal symptoms.

  • A recent survey of trainees in family medicine and internal medicine from several programs suggest a lack of knowledge about the wide range of symptoms women experience and likely are associated with menopausal transition. 40% of these physicians surveyed did not feel adequately trained to manage the menopausal transition. 80% of obstetrics-gynecology residents admitted to being ill-prepared to discuss menopause.
